Rive Intro Overlay
Rive Overlay (Full-screen Animation)
A full-screen animation that briefly takes over before or after an onboarding step. Used to add a polished transition or micro-story before users move on.
When it appears
-
Two modes:
- Pre-step: Plays immediately when the step loads; once it ends, the step becomes usable.
- Post-action: Plays after the user clicks the button/choice; when it ends, the flow advances.
How to use
- For any supported onboarding step, add a Rive overlay block to its configuration (see below table) and choose when it should play:
- Set the timing flag to show it either before the step or after the user’s action.
- If you do nothing, the default behavior is to play the overlay after the user acts.
| Key | Description | Is Optional? |
|---|---|---|
stepId | Unique overlay identifier. In case multiple overlays added in the same onboarding, this is used to differentiate. | Required |
showBeforeStep | Whether the overlay should be shown before or after the step, defaults to false | Optional |
animation | A clone of animation config from interactive animation | Required |
What happens during playback
- The screen is covered and interactions with the step are blocked until the overlay finishes.
- Analytics and answer capture still happen at the user action moment (not at overlay end).
- The overlay finishes and then automatically returns control (or advances, in post-action mode).
